The Hawaii English Academy Teaching Guideline

Here at “The Hawaii English Academy” we apply a specific teaching approach.
4 Step Guideline for Students 30 years old and above.

    STEP 1.   INPUT
How to utilize your memorization skills to the greatest extent.

        Interest +  or   Interest -

All of your study efforts and everything your Instructor teaches you
       is Information.

When receiving information that is not interesting, input will be
unsuccessful and the information received vanishes. When receiving
stimulating information you can relate to, or is fun and interesting,
       in put will be successful.

Once interest is established your short term memory will hold this
information for an average of 1 min.

       Understanding +   or Understanding-

Our instructors will be sure you understand the new information
so that it may be transferred to your middle term memory.

When you truly understand the class lesson content, the information
will be transferred to your middle term memory. Your middle term
memory will then hold this information for 1 hour to 1 month with an
       average of 9 hours.

If you do not understand the content of what is being taught, the
information will vanish within a few minutes

Here at The “A” our Instructors have carefully designed each lesson
to maintain interest and understanding, while sustaining a comfortable
       pace for each individual.

    STEP 2.  SAVE
Storing the information that you have studied so hard for.

Here at THE “A” we cannot stress enough the importance of REVIEW.
Every class we offer includes immense repetition to help students
understand and retain thoroughly of what is being taught.  Without
review the information stored in your middle term memory will vanish
       within one month.

       Review + or Review -

Reviewing the information you have received will transfer it from the
middle term memory to your long term memory.  The portion of your
brain that holds memory is the Hippocampus (mid memory) then; with
review it is transferred to the Temporal Lobe to be stored as long term
      memory.

Our 7 per classroom size makes personal one-on-one time with the
Instructor plentiful. We also encourage all students to ask many questions
until they are confident and truly understand the lesson.

    STEP 3.  OUTPUT
Change the information you have retained into
knowledge, by using memory of episode.

      Practice
+ or Practice -

Studying, reviewing, absorbing interesting facts and a variety of
English language rules have all been stored in your long term
memory, through memory of meaning. It is crucial to transform this
information into knowledge by memory of episode. This will allow
you to express your knowledge letting you communicate effectively.

Using your newly acquired knowledge by practicing, and putting
your new skills in to action is how you achieve memory of episode.
Our instructors will provide you with interesting and essential
information while teaching you a variety of ways to use it, in diverse
situations.

As you age your memory of meaning weakens but your memory
of episode does not.  Therefore it is essential to practice and create
experiences with your new language skills.

Your class mates will also be there to support you as you challenge
the final step in becoming bilingual.

We highly recommend that your knowledge be put into action at
W.E.L.L

You will have the opportunity to speak and listen to an English speaker.
This is the most effective and efficient way to excel your English
speaking.

Practicing is now necessary to progress. Use all that you have input
and saved at W.E.L.L.

STEP 4.  MAINTENANCE of MEMORY
Don’t let all of your hard work fade away over time.

 Maintenance + or Maintenance -

Without maintenance your long term memory will eventually vanish
within a few years.

Using your English skills and knowledge that you have worked so hard
for will need to be maintained. This is done by continuous study.

The Hawaii English Academy accepts weekly and daily enrollments for
those who want to maintain their knoweledge while on short visits here
